Denise Turner is to step down as CEO of Route in June, after almost three years in the role.
She is leaving to take up the position of Media Research Director at the IPA and her successor will be announced soon.
In her new role, Turner will be the IPA industry representative on all the industry media research currencies – Route as well as ABC, Barb, JICMAIL, JICPOPs, JICREG, PAMCo, RAJAR and UKOM. She will also lead the TouchPoints project.
Under Turner’s management, Route expanded its team and responded to the impact of the Covid pandemic with a pan-industry evaluation of OOH audience measurement and what it might look like in the future. The outcome of this review and the new data demands of the industry led to an RFP process and the recent appointments of Ipsos and Adwanted to new, seven-year contracts from April 2025.
Katherine Almond, Chair of Route, said: “Denise has set the standard for JIC leadership in the digital age. Her successor inherits an organisation in strong health and with clear prospects for the future. We are very sad to see Denise leave but pleased that Route and the wider OOH sector will continue to benefit from her expertise.”
Turner said her time in the top job had been an extraordinary period in the life of Route. She said: “In audience research there are just a handful of jobs that have the capability to redefine our industry. I am so privileged to have held one of those roles and delighted that Route has a strong team in place with unparalleled experience.”
