Ruth Chalisey joins as Director of Research with effect from May 2025.

She was Insight Director at EssenceMediacom UK for five years, having spent a total of 11 years at the agency in a variety of research roles.

Chalisey takes over from Euan Mackay, Chief Strategy Officer at Route. As reported in March, he is promoted to CEO, succeeding Denise Turner who joins the IPA as Media Research Director in June.

At EssenceMediacom, Chalisey grew and developed the Insight team, and championed innovation in audience understanding – including research that explored how brands can grasp the intricacies of media consumption within diverse audiences, and the development of a new agile agency product to address insight gaps. She spoke at several industry events and was the agency representative on the PAMCo Technical Group for five years.  Prior to EssenceMediacom, Ruth spent 13 years at the research agency TNS.

Euan Mackay said: “We had an exceptionally high calibre of applicants, but Ruth’s diligence, passion and experience stood out. She has first-class research and planning skills and wide experience of using Route and other JIC data in senior agency roles. She will play a valuable part in delivering the new solution and introducing it to our stakeholders.”

Chalisey said: “After over 20 years in media and research agencies, it’s now time for the next chapter. Route is adopting new ways of gathering and reporting data that will have huge benefits for the OOH industry by using the most appropriate and state-of-the-art solutions available. I'm excited to be joining the team to lead Route’s Insight and the development phase of the new methodology.”
